Everything You Need to Know
Armstrong S-464 Prime Strong Acrylic Primer for Porous Substrates (SKU S-464) is a concentrated acrylic primer that dilutes with water. It is used over porous substrates to reduce subfloor absorbency and help strengthen the adhesive bond, and is approved for use with all Armstrong patches and underlayments. This listing is for one 1-gallon (3.78 L) jug. Sold by the jug by Word of Mouth Floors — order exactly the quantity you need, no square-foot maths.
Coverage: 400–600 sq ft per gallon diluted 1:1 (1,000–1,200 sq ft per gallon diluted 1:3) (per Armstrong; actual coverage varies with the substrate and application).
Key Benefits
- Dilutes with water — 1:1 or 1:3 depending on the substrate, so one gallon goes a long way.
- Fast — ready for installation in as little as 30 minutes on concrete.
- Approved for Armstrong patches and S-463 Level Strong.
Best Applications
Recommended for: Sound, solid gypsum underlayments and sound, porous interior concrete or cement-based substrates before Armstrong patches, underlayments or flooring.
Not recommended for: Non-porous surfaces (use S-465 NP Prime Strong) or unsound, contaminated substrates.
